5G Free California responds to VICE article

Since our nonprofit organization 5G Free California was mentioned in the VICE article “America’s Biggest New Age Expo Is Just Trying to Keep Things from Getting Weird” as follows: “5G Free California, meanwhile, raises concerns about both the radiation levels created by 5G technology—a controversial idea at best” – we would like to point the reader’s attention to the fact that there are literally thousands of peer-reviewed scientific studies concerning the biological effects of Radio Frequencies (“RF”) and microwaves frequencies radiation. For example, the BioInitiative Report (https://bioinitiative.org/table-of-contents/), which is the most comprehensive review on studies on the adverse effects of wireless technology, which was authored by 30 leading scientists and public health experts from around the world. They reviewed 1,800 studies and their conclusion is: Bio-Effects from cell phones, wi-fi, cel towers and “smart” meters can occur within minutes of exposure.

There are also many US Government studies proving the harms as well as government agencies’ reports on this issue including the Navy, US Air Force, and the EPA.

In 2014, the US Department of Interior wrote a letter stating that the problem with the migration of birds is caused by the radiation from cell towers and that “the electromagnetic radiation standards used by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) continue to be based on thermal heating, a criterion now nearly 30 [now 36] years out of date and inapplicable today.”

The most recent study by the Federal government is the National Toxicology Program (“NTP”) which found CLEAR EVIDENCE that wireless radiation causes cancer and DNA damage. The NTP is the US expert agency in evaluating toxins and their findings are considered a “golden standard”. The NTP study, a $25 million 14 year study on Radio-Frequency radiation (RFR) is the largest study of its type. The final report of the study, after peer review of 11 external scientists, was released on November 1st 2018, and showed clear evidence of increase in the incidence of brain and heart cancer in animals exposed to RF standards set by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) in 1996. The FCC guidelines are based on the assumption (not evidence) that non-ionizing radiation such as the radiation emitted by RF and microwaves used by wireless technology is not harmful unless it creates a temperature change in the body, known as the thermal effect.

Dr. Ron Melnik, who led the NTP project for years said about the findings: “The NTP tested the hypothesis that cell phone radiation could not cause health effects and that hypothesis has now been disproved. The experiment has been done and, after extensive reviews, the consensus is that there was a carcinogenic effect”. The NTP study not only proved conclusively that cell phones cause cancer in non-thermal cases, it also proved that non-ionizing radiation can break the DNA. It may not do it instantaneously as ionizing does, but it still breaks the DNA. In regard to the DNA damage, Dr. Melnik stated that the results of the study: “should put to rest the old argument that RF radiation cannot cause DNA damage”.

The NTP study confirmed what many other studies already proved even decades ago, including DNA damage. These results support results in human epidemiological studies on RF radiation and brain tumor risk. In 2011, the World Health Organization classified RFR from cell phones, wi-fi, cell towers and other wireless devices as a 2B carcinogen. The WHO explained that while there is sufficient human evidence that increased exposure to this radiation increase cancer risk, more animals studies are needed. The NTP study is the missing link.

An additional major animal study was done by the Ramazzini Institute in Italy, a 6 million Euro study, and it confirmed the NTP results. While the NTP used levels of radiation similar to cell phones, the Ramazzini study used levels 6,000 times lower, which resembles levels from cell towers.

Many reliable websites exist with links to studies, government reports, industry admissions and testimonials of those who have already been injured by this technology. For example: UC Berkeley School of Public Health; saferemr.com, Physicians for Safe Technology at MDSafeTech.org the BioInitiative Report, and EHTrust.org.

Considering 5G is using the RF & Microwave frequencies in non-thermal levels and since the harms of the radiation emitted by them was proven harmful, there is no doubt that 5G is harmful, especially as 5G is mostly 4G, just more antennas and closer to our home to support the exponential increase in data of the Internet of things. Therefore, in September 2018, over 200 scientists submitted the 5G Appeal calling for a moratorium on 5G because the harms are proven. They wrote that the adverse health effects from wireless radiation are:

“…proven to be harmful to humans and the environment…” Effects include increased cancer risk; cellular stress, increase in harmful free radicals, genetic damage, structural and functional changes of the reproductive system, learning and memory deficits, neurological disorders, and negative impacts on the general well-being in humans. Damage goes well beyond the human race, as there is growing evidence of harmful effects to both plant and animal life.”

Current FCC transmission limits were never based on studies of biological harm, and have never been updated. FCC limits only reference heating effects and do not account for other biological effects of long-term exposure to microwave radiation. As the US Department of Interior stated, indeed, the FCC guidelines are obsolete and do not protect from harm.

On 2/2/2020, Robert Kennedy Jr.’s organization Children’s Health Defense filed a lawsuit against the FCC for its failure to update its guidelines. The Petition for Review (https://childrenshealthdefense.org/wp-content/uploads/02-02-2020-CHD-v.-FCC-Petition-for-Review-For-Public.pdf) which was filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, claiming the FCC decision is capricious, arbitrary, not evidence-based and in abuse of discretion. The lawsuit addresses both the scientific evidence and the human evidence which is on an epidemic scale.

In the 5G Appeal, the scientists concluded: “… we unanimously acknowledge this serious hazard to public health…that major primary prevention measures are adopted and prioritized, to face this worldwide pan-epidemic…” and said that “… Inaction is a cost to society and is not an option anymore”.

In conclusion; there can be no question that wireless radiation causes harm. The evidence is clear, including the human evidence. Therefore, 5G Free California is committed to spreading the truth, the evidence and awareness on the harms of wireless radiation. This is today’s most important and overlooked environmental issue.

We are also committed to stopping 5G – an infrastructure which would exponentially increase the level of unavoidable radiation in our environment. 5G intends to add 800,000 “small” cells antennas near our homes, interconnect billions more devices wirelessly and tens of thousands of satellites will microwave us from the sky. This is a threat to every living being on our planet. Read the 5G Space Appeal.

Finally; regarding the surveillance/data aspect mentioned – in our current economy, data is the new gold, and 5G will be the infrastructure for the Internet of Things which interconnects everything wirelessly. The purpose of which is to collect data that will be used for various purposes. A McKinsey report (McKinsey is one of the leading consultancy firms in the world) from 2015 estimates data from 5G/IOT as an $11 trillion a year industry.

Tucker Carlson, Fox – did this piece Creepy Tech – It Knows When I Got Out of the Car!’: Tucker’s Special Report on How Google’s Tracking You”, you may want to watch it.

This means that every person’s data will be transmitted constantly and wirelessly – a dream for hackers and data collectors. In February 2020, an article regarding this – Ransomware is Putting Smart City Aspirations on Notice – was published about the massive losses already incurred. Last year at least 966 government agencies and healthcare institutions were attacked with a total cost of $7.5 billion. For example, the city of Baltimore was hit in 2019 with a ransomware attack demanding 13 bitcoins. With the support of the FBI, the city chose not to pay the ransom. However, they spent nearly $18 million to repair the damage, which was far more than the ransom demand itself.

Taking all the evidence into consideration, 5G Free California finds it puzzling that VICE would decide to include our nonprofit organization in this specific article regarding unproven conspiracy theories, and we look forward to more in-depth reporting on the literature on RF and microwaves frequencies radiation and adverse health effects in the future.
