Cell Tower Would Be In Near Proximity to Homes, Schools, and Recreation Center
VENICE BEACH, CA (June 26, 2021) – Venice residents, upset about a recent fixture for a planned 5G small cell tower, will demonstrate and protest tomorrow, Sunday, June 27, to urge city leaders to halt the installation of technology that has been proven to cause health hazards, increase fire risks, and devalue property by up to 20 percent. The device is an industrial eye-sore in a quaint beach town neighborhood where the residents are exceptionally health conscious.
Thursday morning, Venice resident Gina Amoroso noticed a device attached to a pole 3 feet from her garden and just outside of her kitchen door. After calling the Department of Water and Power (DWP), she was informed that within days a Verizon 5G cell tower will be installed.
Residents followed health orders during the pandemic to stay at home. It is ironic that city officials, without providing residents with advance notice, plan to install 5G cell towers that may cause cancer and other chronic health problems in communities where the residents prioritize their health.
